By Michael Oliver.

Sometimes asking a direct question will get you a short answer that won’t give you much to work with or it takes time to expand on.

So here’s a way to power up your questioning skills and get deeper and more meaningful answers… Turn some of your direct questions into Indirect Questions.

Doing so will take you into a zone beyond the factual, who, what, why, where, when and how!

Here are some examples:

Instead of asking: How would you do that differently?

Ask: So what would you say the differences are between what you have done and what you would do now, if you could do it all over again?

Instead of asking: What don’t you like about the pharmaceutical drugs you’re taking?

Ask: Is there anything you don’t like about your pharmaceutical drugs, and if there is, how that would affect your decision to take something else if it was available.

If you agree with the Natural Selling philosophy that “People have the answers, and all you need are the right types of questions”, you’ll notice that by rephrasing the direct question, and asking for a descriptive answer, the likelihood is that you’ll get what you want!

Do it yourself. Take a moment and answer the questions I gave you. If they aren’t relevant, take a question that YOU ask of others, turn it into an Indirect Question and then answer it. Observe how you FEEL about your own answer.

Indirect Questions;

Stimulate and engage on both the intellectual and emotional levels

Help your potential partner/customer to think

They are interesting to the other person (Interesting for you as well because you can get an incredible amount of depth and personal vision in the answers)

Asking questions and knowing how to respond to the answers is of course the key to success in effectively talking with people and building a business quickly. You can find the structure as well as the types of questions to ask in my best selling book (hard copy, eBook or Audio version) called “How to How to Sell Network Marketing without Fear, Anxiety or Losing Your Friends!” Click here for details

So sprinkle your dialogue with the occasional Indirect Question and be prepared for deeper more meaningful answers that you can use to drill down deeper into the heart buttons.

In the meantime, contrast for me if you would, the difference in the quality of answers you get from the questions you’re presently asking, and the answers you would get if you turned some of them into Indirect Questions!”

Very few people possess the notoriety or authority to use only one name; even our most infamous presidents and world leaders are referred to by their first and last names. However, there is a very elite group including Madonna, Cher and Elvis who needn’t use a last name. Each of these celebrities has played a significant role in shaping our pop culture but no celebrity has shaped our country more than the woman topping the “one name” chart, Oprah.

Oprah is an American media proprietor, former talk show host, actress, producer and philanthropist. Oprah is best known for her self-titled talk show that became the highest-rated program of its kind in history and was nationally syndicated from 1986 to 2011. She has been ranked the richest African American of the 20th century, the greatest black philanthropist in American history, and was for a time the world’s only black billionaire. Oprah is arguably the most influential person of our time. She is an icon, a legend and she has shared a stage with Dr. Mindell.

In 1981, Oprah was co-hosting WJZ’s local talk show, People Are Talking, and invited Dr. Mindell to the show to discuss the power of vitamin supplements. After appearing on the show Oprah sent Dr. Mindell a letter that reads:

Dear Earl,

Thanks so much for the vitamins and for being a most informative guest! We loved having you here.

I’ve only been taking the vitamins 2 days now and already I feel better!

Continued Success,

Oprah Winfrey

Dr. Mindell rediscovered this letter in a drawer a few weeks ago. It is amazing the success both individuals came to realize after they shared that stage in 1981. Dr. Mindell became a best-selling author, writing more than 45 books on health and wellness including the book, “The Vitamin Bible,” which has sold more than 11 million copies worldwide. Dr. Mindell went on to become one of the most prominent and respected nutritionists in the field of health and wellness.

A piece of history found in a drawer; a letter from one icon to another.

It’s almost a cliché by now; drinking more water each day improves your health. It helps to keep your body operating and running smoothly, it helps keep your skin clear and healthy, and it can also help with the battle of the bulge.

So the next logical question is this: how much water does a person need? Well, it’s a question that’s been debated for quite some time. The old rule of thumb was to drink eight, eight ounce glasses. But with just about everything these days, that old rule has its critics too. Others say you should take your weight and divide by half and drink that many ounces of water each day. And then there’s the other things to factor in, like the weather, your activity level, if you’re pregnant, the medications you’re on, the type of diet you eat. So many factors to weigh, one might begin to think you need a PhD to solve this mystery!

Good thing someone with an actual PhD did! In 2004, the well-known Institute of Medicine set an average we can rely on. Healthy women need about 91 ounces of total water and healthy men need around 125 ounces of total water, daily. Notice the emphasis on total. Total water includes the water in other beverages and the liquid/water in foods. Did you know that on average, about 80% of your daily water intake is from liquids and the rest (20% for those mathematically challenged) is in the foods we consume?

So for women, that’s about 71 ounces of water that needs to be consumed, or three and a half GBG Global Pure water bottles. For men, about 100 ounces of water, or four and a half GBG Global Pure water bottles.

It’s hard to drink too much water, but it has been done. Drinking too much water can be fatal, but it’s incredibly rare and with all the sugary drinks most Americans drink every day, I’m sure the odds are in your favor and you’re probably right in thinking “I should drink more water!”

In an effort to increase your water consumption, here are some helpful ways to increase your daily H2O intake:

1) Keep your GBG Global Pure water bottle at your desk and sip on it through the day. When it’s empty, fill it up. Take it home with you and drink water on your commute. Find it hard to remember to fill it up? You can bet there’s an app for that!

2) Put a glass of water on your bedside table and drink it first thing in the morning. Try to drink it before your regular coffee or tea.

3) Keep an extra GBG Global Pure water bottle in your purse and car. You can fill it up anywhere and not worry about whether it’s filtered or safe.

4) Drink a glass or two of water before your meal when you sit down to eat. Actually, research has proven that people who are trying to lose weight and who drink two glasses of water before every meal lose more weight overall than those who don’t.

5) Dilute your juice. If you can’t get past the bland taste of water, dilute your juice. Start off with a 1:1 ratio and gradually wean yourself down to 1:6 or 1:8 ratio with 1 part juice for every 8 parts water.

6) Get a little fruity! Add some lemon, lime, watermelon or cucumber to your water to liven it up!

7) You don’t have to give up on the bubbly! Seltzer water counts so liven it up with a splash of lemon juice, orange juice, and drink up!
